Conflict over Social Media
Social media can also have a negative impact on people’s lives. The digital media of these days can cause conflict with our friends, family members, or other people we engage with on social media often.
In this era of Social Media we see a lot of people arguing on twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc. Sometimes we express opinion on social media without not knowing that can harm others. Social Media is the new way that people are choosing to argue. Most people now talk over text message instead of talking face to face. Social media can make an argument that is small to something big and unnecessary.
Social media impacts on how people reacts to conflict. Examples include perceptions of increased division, online violence comments, and hate speech driving the isolation of vulnerable groups.
People sometime cross the line on social media and don't think the harm that can cause to others.
Here are a few examples of what we mean by “crossing the line”:
revealing personal info: name/address/phone number/email
Threats of violence against you or your loved ones
Hate speech (slurs, harmful stereotypes based on race, religion, ethnicity, etc.)
When one troll becomes many
When a one-off insult becomes a protracted campaign of harassment
In the end, everyone is entitled to an opinion even if you don't agree with what the other person is saying, we must respect each other.
